Finger Lakes Fiber Festival 2016 part 2

It was another amazing year at the Finger Lakes Fiber Festival. If you haven't been there mark your calendars for the third week in September and head to Hemlock Fairgrounds, NY.

Souvenirs were lovely! I was too late to snag a shirt in my size, but I did get the sweatshirt :)

The Genesee Valley Handspinners Guild sponsors the Festival and has a number of displays. This table shows the charitable organizations that they donate items to including Preemie hats and mittens for Strongs NICU, Warm Extremities for Veterans and we can't forget Knitted Knockers for Breast Cancer Survivors.

If your a spinner or want to be a spinner you have to come check out the Genesee Valley Handspinners Guild http://www.gvhg.org/. You won't find a nicer group of women & men.

This display was for the GVHG KAL. Everyone knit the same pattern " Noro Woven Shawl" and then the festival goers get to vote on their favourite. I love seeing how people can take the same pattern and have completely different shawls. The Winner will be announced at the November meeting.

Then there was the display for GVHG Anniversary Fiber. Last year all GVHG members recieved a couple oz of fiber in one of two colorways and we all spun it up and displayed it at last years festival for the 30th Anniversary of GVHG. This year we took the skiens and made a finished item for the display.

And of course there were animals, demonstrations, and...

the ever popular Used Equipment Sale.

Of course the Skein and Garment Competition is always a treat.

It really was a lovely weekend, I hope to see you all there next year!
